Responsibilities

The Chowchilla Police Department plays an integral part in helping City government and the City Council fulfill its mission of providing the community of Chowchilla and its visitors with a safe, clean and healthy way of life.

We work closely with other city, state, and federal government departments, schools, private organizations, service groups, and faith-based groups in an attempt to provide the highest quality police service for our community.

Our department is proud of the progressive, professional and compassionate character of our agency. We constantly strive to acquire and employ the latest technology available and are always searching for ways to provide the best service possible.

Police Personnel

The Chowchilla Police Department has a current authorized strength of nineteen officers including the Chief of Police, one Lieutenant and four Sergeants that perform administrative and patrol duties, with currently eleven officers assigned to patrol duties.

Officers are also assigned to special assignments including Detective and Campus Resource Officer. The department is also authorized to have up to twelve Reserve Police Officers; currently there is two on staff.

The department also has an Administrative Supervisor and five Community Service Officers who perform dispatch, evidence, animal control, record duties, C.SI., registrant, and Live Scan tasks. One police chaplain serves on a volunteer basis.

Police Volunteers
