Commissions and Committees

Commissions and committees are integral to the foundation of our community that assist the City Council in making critical policy decisions that impact the community. These groups research, study, and discuss specific issues with both short and long-term implications. Their recommendations are then forwarded to the Council for their consideration and action.

Citizen input is essential to the success of local government. The discussions and recommendations from Boards and Commissions are essential to maintaining quality services to the Chowchilla community. Click the links below to learn more about the current Commissions and Committees.

These are voluntary positions. To be eligible, a citizen must reside in the city limits of Chowchilla, unless otherwise noted, and be a registered voter. The terms of office are determined for each board, commission, and committee, and members may serve consecutive terms.

The appointment of new members and the reappointment of incumbent members to open positions are made by the City Council at the beginning of each calendar year as needed when the City Council fills necessary vacancies throughout the year as they occur.
