City Council

How often does the City Council meet?

City Council meetings are regularly held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 pm with special meetings called as needed. Meetings are held in Council Chambers at the Chowchilla Civic Center located at 130 S. Second Street, Civic Center Plaza. The approved meeting schedule is listed on the Agendas, Minutes & Hearings web page. If you have questions about a specific date call the City Clerk's office at (559) 665-8615, extension 102.

How can I find out what items are on the agenda for Council meetings?

The City Clerk's office will post an agenda at the Chowchilla Civic Center at least 72 hours before the scheduled regular meeting. For special meetings, agenda will be posted at least 24 hours in advance and 1 hour is required for emergency meetings. The agenda may also be viewed on the Agendas, Minutes & Hearings web page.

How do I get an item placed on the City Council agenda?

Contact the City Clerk's office at (559) 665-8615, extension 102, at least 20 days prior to the meeting date desired.

How can I address the Council regarding an item not on the Council agenda?

There is a brief time frame at the beginning of each regular City Council meeting where the public is invited to address Council regarding any items not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to 3-5 minutes each and Council is prohibited by law from taking any action on matters discussed that are not on the agenda, and no adverse conclusions should be drawn if Council does not respond to public comment at that time.

Where can I find copies of Council agendas and minutes?

A public binder that contains the entire agenda packet is available at the Chowchilla City Hall prior to the meeting date or on the Agendas, Minutes & Hearings web page.

How can I contact the Mayor or Council Members?

The Mayor and Council Members do not staff offices at the Civic Center. Messages and correspondence may be delivered to them via email or voice mail. See
