CHOWCHILLA CITY PARKS

VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
600 West Robertson Boulevard

This lovely 2.1 acre park is located on the main street of Chowchilla, Robertson Boulevard, and is the first park set aside with the founding of the settlement that came to be known as Chowchilla in the early 1900's.

The park features meandering sidewalks around and through the parcel and beneath the large shade trees that add a coolness to the park during the sunny days. Various community gatherings and special events are held at this attractive park.

In addition to on-street parking spaces, amenities include a playground, park benches, horseshoe courts, restrooms and two park pavilions that can be rented for picnics (see below for details). The Farnesi Pavilion is on the Robertson Boulevard side of the park and the Lions Pavilion in on the Kings Street side.

EDWARD RAY PARK
625 N. 15th Street

This highly used park is located in a residential area in the north end of town on Fifteenth Street. It is the largest city park at 27.4 acres.

Off-street parking is accessed from Fifteenth Street. There are open play grass areas and semi-shaded spaces for picnics and gatherings, or outdoor activities. The park also has two lighted softball fields, one lighted baseball field and a full-size lighted soccer field in addition to unlighted soccer areas. The park also has restroom facilities and a concession stand that is operated during sports league games.

The park also has the Lioness Pavilion that can be rented for picnics (see below for details). In addition, there is a small recreation center that is used for sports league meetings. This facility is not available for private rentals.

AREA 15 SKATE PARK
The Area 15 Skate Park is in the Edward Ray Park. It is a 10,000 square foot facility with all-metal ramps from American Ramp Company (ARC). It features a half pipe, grind rails, quarter pipes, launch ramps, a fun box, and more.

All participants are required by State of California regulations and the City of Chowchilla Municipal Code to wear a helmet and elbow and knee pads. In addition, anyone under 14 years of age must have a signed waiver form on file at the Chowchilla Civic Center (130 S. Second Street) and must have a parent/guardian present while the child uses the skate park.

RC WISENER PARK
South Second Street and Trinity Avenue

This park is known as the home of the Chowchilla Little League and is located across the street from the Chowchilla City Hall and the Police Department.

On-street parking surrounds most of the 4.5 acre park that features two well-maintained, lighted baseball fields and one unlit smaller baseball field for younger players. A concession stand is operated by the Little League and is open during baseball games.

The park also has a playground, park benches, restrooms, and the Rotary Pavilion that can be rented for picnics (see below for details).

 

ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED IN ALL CITY PARKS AND THE USE OF TOBACCO IS PROHIBITED BY STATE LAW WITHIN 25 FEET OF A PLAYGROUND

 

RESERVE A PARK PAVILION
Park pavilions can be reserved for family picnics, birthday parties, reunions, company get-togethers, etc. Before planning your event and to reserve a park pavilion visit the Chowchilla City Hall at 130 S. Second Street during Monday through Friday business hours, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Reservations MUST BE MADE NO LATER than the Wednesday closest to the day of the event.

THINKING OF HAVING A BOUNCE HOUSE IN THE PARK?
There are very specific guidelines that must be met in order to have an inflatable apparatus (bounce house) in a city park as part of your picnic or event. It is important that you review the details described in the INFLATABLE APPARATUS USE AGREEMENT FORM before entering into a rental agreement with a vendor.

In summary, but not inclusive of all requirements,

  • A signed and complete PARK PAVILION RESERVATION FORM and INFLATABLE APPARATUS USE AGREEMENT FORM along with payment of the applicable fees must be submitted to the City;
  • The inflatable apparatus can only be used in conjunction with a park pavilion reservation;
  • Only dry inflatables can be used - NO WATER SLIDES ARE ALLOWED;
  • The inflatable company must have a current City of Chowchilla Business License and meet the City of Chowchilla Insurance Liability Coverage requirements and provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance valid for one year that names the City of Chowchilla as additional insured (refer to the Preferred Vendor List below);
  • The Certificate of Liability Insurance can only be carried and provided by the rental company and not by the renter's homeowners insurance, nor by a special insurance policy obtained by the renter for only this purpose;
  • Refer to the agreement form for additional requirements.
