A Message from the Mayor

Hello Everyone,

The new dates for “Beautify Chowchilla” are Saturday, September 25th and October 23rd. Let me know if you would like to join your fellow community members and me with this project. We had an excellent turnout of amazing volunteers at the last project; let’s see if we can make them bigger and better. If you have pictures from the last event and post them to social media, don’t forget the hashtag #beautifychowchilla. For more information and the volunteer form, click here https://www.cityofchowchilla.org/319/Volunteer.

The City of Chowchilla team continues to have positive new business interest and has begun to see a great deal of potential for housing, commercial, and industrial developments. A few updates: Stor-Max and Joe’s Premium Car Wash are both progressing well. 47 Twelve Macarons has opened their new shop along Robertson Boulevard, and new home construction should begin next week along Genoa Lake Way. Also exciting news, our Senior Center will be open on August 2nd, from 8 am – 12 pm, Monday through Friday. The Chowchilla Memorial Healthcare District facilitates the program; I look forward to visiting with our seniors.

Road 16 has been repaved and is now open; the lanes will be striped within the next few weeks. Several other street and road projects are in the works. The city staff has been working diligently to apply for grants and other funding sources to improve our community infrastructure. The city will send out updates as soon as possible once the projects are fully funded and approved. Cal Trans has also been actively working on repairing various small projects along Robertson Blvd./233.  Did you know you can submit service requests directly to Cal Trans at https://csr.dot.ca.gov/?

I would like to congratulate our City Administrator, Rod Pruett, for being an upcoming presenter at the California League of Cities Annual Conference. Rod has been an integral part of the current growth and success of our city.

School will be starting soon; please take every precaution to ensure our precious children can safely get to and from school. Make sure to stop for school busses and pedestrians. Be alert while driving, keep distractions at a minimum, and slow down, especially when children are present.

I want to thank Chowchilla Elementary School District for the wonderful remodeling project they are doing at the Wilson school facility, it is coming along great, and I look forward to seeing the finished project.

Also, a very special thank you to everyone who made the summer event series, movies, music, science, and farmers market in the park possible. I loved seeing everyone hugging, singing, laughing, and having a great time. Excellent job, everyone.

A quick reminder, our council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month and are open to the public. I enjoy seeing our community members at the meetings, and I encourage you to come to participate.

Have a great weekend, and stay safe!
